We are now using the Canvas app that should be available through students’ Clever page. Have your student log in to Clever, locate and select the Canvas button. It should open your student to a Courses page. They select each course and view the Modules.

PWCS will be using canvas next year, so now is a good time to get familiar with it.   If I can get the modules and assignments loaded correctly, and your student can access it, it will have everything in one location!

One more tip, be sure your student is logged in to Clever before you begin accessing assignments. This will hopefully save some time and frustration. I will see all BrainPop assignments completed. Students can take pictures of their projects, submit word documents, and share at our weekly Zoom Meeting.

We are all attempting to provide learning that is designed to take place in a vibrant, social school setting, but we will get through this! Please remember to keep it fun and as stress free as possible for our children.

Stay well everyone!

Welcome to Canvas!

PWCS is excited to explore Canvas, a cloud-based learning management system that makes teaching and learning easier.

There are options to submit your assignments right in Canvas.

Please look around and let me know if you need help!

Starting Monday, April 20th, we will have more structured options for at-home learning. The fourth grade team is working hard to provide daily review lessons and activities for each subject. Elementary students will receive 60 minutes of learning activities per subject area per week.  All of the core subject materials can be found in the files and documents link under distance learning.
Be sure to check out the specialists' web pages for their weekly lesson, too. Below is an example of a schedule of what will be posted each day for 4th graders (which may be subject to change).

How to log into:
CLEVER
There is a link to Clever on the Westridge homepage. Select WEB LINKS from the ribbon just below the school header. Select the Clever tile. If logging in with Office 365, the student will need to enter their PWCS email, (username@pwcs-edu.org) and then their computer password. If you have a camera on your device, they may use their Clever badge. A Clever app is available for iPads. MyOn, DreamBox, Study Island, Wixie and other apps may be accessed through Clever.

Office 365
Each student may download up to five copies of Office 365. Search for Office 365, select a log in option, then enter the student email and password.

Students in school on Friday, March 13 came home with login information for several websites as well as their username and password for Office 365 and their Clever badge. If your child was not in school last week, and you need login information, please let me know so I can get that information to you as soon as possible.

I hope everyone is doing well during this extended break. While we are away from  school, please have your child complete the following activities.  Feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or just to chat.  You may contact me through my email or remind.  I'm happy to help!
Please work on the following:

Reading: Read for at least 20 minutes each day.  You can also access the Westridge Symbaloo for reading activities.  We also have access to Study Island.

Math: Complete 2 or more Dreambox lessons daily.  Study Island is an excellent resource for math as well.

Writing: Your child may make a journal/scrapbook and write about his or her time off.  You may also have them write me a letter!

Science:  Continue to use the study guides for Science.  Go outside, go for a walk, go for a run, observe nature!

Virginia Studies:  Continue to use the study guides for Virginia Studies.  Complete the "Race" activities.  (located in files)

Extra time on your hands?  You may complete a Cereal Box project (located in files).
